About Luiz
Throughout my career, I have been in a position to select team members from a wide array of professionals. While high level of accomplishment, expertise and exceptional drive has always been a benchmark to my standards for hiring, the fit of the person to the team is an integral part of creating a collegial, collaborative and effective organization. Learning about the other dimensions of the executive outside of the organization is essential.
I am an avid photographer and enjoy merging my interests in visual art with my other passions, hiking, cycling, history and architectural / structural engineering. Below - my photos provide a window into the man within the executive.

East Coast Greenway
I am an active cyclist and participate in the "East Coast Greenway" program, which is in the process of revitalizing old train rails into usable, conserved hiking and cycling trails from Maine to Florida. I have helped raise thousands of dollars toward this cause and last summer cycled 365 miles from Portland, Maine to Hartford, Connecticut as part of this program. This photo was taken along one of the trails in New Hampshire.
Diamond Beach - Cape May, NJ - Nature Preserve
This photo was taken at sunrise on Diamond Beach, which borders the Cape May Wildlife Preserve. The preserve is a multi-acre protected area for migratory birds, and the nesting place for the endangered Piping Plover. I recharge and nurture new ideas during my many walks on the beach or on the preserve hiking trail.
History
I enjoy photographing historic places, learning about the people and significance of those landmarks. This photo was taken in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. This fort, known as Castillo de San Cristobal, built in 1539, guarded the most significant and important passage in the Caribbean. Protected by Spain for over 350 years, it was the first stop for ships sailing months on end from Europe to the new world. History teaches me about strategy, ingenuity and endurance necessary to conquer my current challenges.
Cape May Preserve - Wildlife Refuge
This photo is a favorite because it captures Plovers with both their reflections and shadows. I took this photo just outside a refuge for nesting migratory birds, including the endangered Piping Plover. Shedding light from different angles can provide multiple perspectives to the problems we face in the business world. I find it critical to look at and analyze problems from multiple perspectives taking into account the light shed by many to get at the best or better answer.
